David Montano is in his sixth season at La Marque High School. Montano started his coaching career at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 1995 as a defensive assistant. From 1996-2002 he coached several positions for the TAMUK Javelinas. Montano started his high school coaching career at H.M. King High School in Kingsville where he was the special teams coordinator, defensive backs, and assistant offensive line coach. He also served as the head boys and girls track coach and produced three state medals in track, the first three in school history. In 2006 Montano relocated to Premont High School for two seasons where he wore several hats. He was the high school assistant principal, football special teams and co-defensive coordinator, and head track coach for the boys and girls programs. During his second season at Premont, he also took on the role of interim athletic director and head football coach. In 2008, Montano landed at Corpus Christi West Oso High School for three seasons where he was the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach. He also served as the head boys track coach and produced four state track and field medals in the sprints, the first track medals in twenty three seasons. Montano also had the opportunity to coach Track and Field at the collegiate level. He was the jumps and assistant sprint coach at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (2005-2006) and served in the same capacity at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi during the 2008-2009 seasons. He has led the Cougars basketball team to the last 2 state tournaments. A native of Donna Texas, Montano received both his bachelor degree in health and kinesiology and his master’s degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He holds certifications in education administration, health, kinesiology, and mathematics.
Coach Cervenka is in his 2nd year of teaching and coaching. He is married to his wife Jennifer since 2009 and is working with the middle school football teams.
